Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I have been divorced for 7 years. During that time, I have covered most of the expenses for my 2 children including all insurance. My ex-husband earns less than I do. His child support order is $600. However, at the time of our divorce I was unemployed. I have wanted to amend the child support for years, but have been told of the possibility of a reduction in the order. Is there a way for me to reclaim past amounts that my ex has not paid toward the insurance and expenses that he was ordered to pay in our divorce decree or amend the support order without cutting the small amount that he pays now?

If you ex-husband is not following the terms of the order, you have the right to file a contempt action. I would suggest you meet with an attorney before proceeding. You have the right to request a reimbursement of attorney fees.
