Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

if papers were signed by a father to give up his parents rights and the papers were notarized is there any way to stop this? They were signed 20 days ago.

Stop what? If it was for an adoption, the answer is no. You had 10 days to rescind the Surrender. If it was for something else, I do not know because you did not provide sufficient information. Signing over your parental rights is a serious decision. You should have discussed with an attorney before signing and I suggest you speak with an attorney now.

I agree with the prior answer. However, what papers did you sign? Who drafted it? Who has it? A notary does not make a improperly drafted paper valid. It just shows that you were the person who signed the document. You should take the document to an experienced family lawyer to determine if you indeed signed your rights away. Many people play lawyer and try to draft their own documents. All this does is cause problems for them. In this case, it may work for your benefit!
