Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

I recently lost a storage unit in an auction. I'm only concerned because there were personal records that I forgot were in the unit. The buyer was fully aware of the file cabinet because it was listed on the contents. I was able to find the auctioning company sent me a link to the closed auction and it clearly showed documents a box.

Their bidding website clearly states "Contents of the unit that are personal property in nature and have no monetary value, as in, legal documents, tax returns, bank statements, photos, papers, etc must be left at the storage facility for return to the tenant."

However, I contacted the office for the storage facility and nothing was left behind. Both parties have reached out to the buyer and gave him my contact info since they couldn't provide me with his. Is the statement on their website based on a law in Georgia? Do I have any recourse or am I pretty much screwed? I was out of state dealing with some serious family stuff going on right now. I had a missed call but no voice message from the storage company. Thanks in advance.

I know of no law in Georgia addressing this, but I would suggest you have an attorney send the buyer a demand letter for the return of the records and offer to pay for the postage or pick them up personally. Assuming they still have them, I'm not sure why they would care to keep them.
