Legal Question in Immigration Law in Georgia

I employee a 19 year old hispanic girl that has been here since she was 1 yr. 5 months old. She graduated high school-all 12 years here--speaks perfect english--has NEVER been to Mexico. She has a current Mexican passport--IRS id number--current consular id card. She is scared and doesnt know if she is legal or illegal--I want to help her and need some advice. THANK YOU

Bear in mine you could face serious legal consequences if she is illegal, and your interests and hers legally are the opposite. She knows if she is legal or not, so she's simply putting you at risk. Consult with your company lawyer about what you need to do to protect yourself.

As stated, employing an illegal person is a crime. You need to check with a lawyer to first make sure you are in the clear. At that point, it might be OK to assist the employee in some way (as in paying for their own lawyer). Obviously, both of you need a lawyer in your area to sit down with, instead of solicitations from other areas.
