Legal Question in Insurance Law in Georgia

RE: Life Insurance Claim

My husband signed a term life policy about 2 years ago and died suddenly of a massive coronary...no history of any health issues...he was quite an athlete. Because he signed the policy shy of 2 years, the insurance company is going back 10 years into his medical history to see if anything was misrepresented. I am confident that process will be ok, but what is a reasonable timeframe for the insurance company to conclude their determination on the claim. I am a widow of three kids and work full time.

The insurance company should be able to adequately review the claim and pay out the funds within sixty (60) days. If you encounter additional problems, contact our firm for representation.

The answer often depends on how quickly the company can gather records from 10 years ago, so it would take a guess as far as what is reasonable. There is no reason to pay a lawyer any time soon (unless this has been going on for many months and you believe there is a real problem). The insurer has the right to conduct the investigation.
