Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

In October 2016, my former roommates and I agreed that we turn in a 60 days notice to get out of our lease. They wanted their own place because they didn't want a fourth person (my girlfriend) to move in. With my girlfriend starting a new job two weeks from then, I decided to get a new apartment for herself and I so that she wouldn't have to commute 150 miles every day. I paid my part of the rent for the 60 days (November and December) along with rent and bills of the new apartment. During that time, the other tenants refused to sign the notice nor let me off the lease. They're now suing me for my part of the rent through May when the lease ends. Do I have any argument other than i thought keeping the peace was the right thing to do?

The "right thing to do" for a contract is usually to honor the contract. They decided to not do the early termination, apparently. When you enter into a lease with other people, you are tied to them.
