Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

I had trouble coming up with the last month of rent in my lease, so technically the lease is up on April 1. They filed the paperwork for eviction on 3/25, so the eviction process will go until April 13 before I'll have to be gone.

I was wondering since the lease technically ends before the eviction process plays out after a few weeks, can the apartment complex kick me out before then? Or do they have to wait until the eviction process plays out?

They can kick you out and place all your belongings on the street when the Court enters an order. When the deputies or Marshall shows up (you won't know when), your things will be on the street. Are you asking whether you can stay in the apartment and get a few extra free days? If an eviction order is entered, it means future landlords will see it for years to come, it'll go on your credit report for years for potential employers and lenders to see, etc. Even if you don't get tossed out, the money judgment will follow you and probably cost you several times the judgment amount in higher interest rates, missed jobs, etc. Your best option is to be out and have the property clean at the end of the lease, and make a deal with the landlord to pay the debt before a judgment is entered.
