Writ of possesion

What is a writ of possesion? I appeared in court and the documentation that was given to me stated ''..that the plantiff is entitled to a WRIT OF POSSESION and judgement and it be issued 2-6-06 and further ordered that plantiff recover judgement against the defendant in the amount of $--- plus court and interest at the legal rate of 10.25%.'' What does this mean?? Thanks.

A Writ is entered by the Court, and it entitles the landlord to possession. The landlord can take the Writ to the Sheriff, and the Sheriff comes and physically removes persons and possessions from the property. It is an unpleasant situation you will want to avoid.
