Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Georgia

I work for a city government in Georgia. Can they legally tape conversations that happen in someone private office without the employees knowing about it? They have asked one employee to carry a small tape recorder to tape conversations that go on in our office. Thank you for your time with this matter.

Generally, in Georgia, the law is that one party to a conversation can record conversations without the other parties knowing about it. You can't secretly record conversations of others, such as hiding a recorder in someone else's office.
