Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia

auto accident

I was in an auto accident a week ago our mini van was totaled and the other driver was 100% at fault. My husband, myself and my 7 year old have been going to the chiro all week. My 4 year old, 9 year old and 7week old were also in the van. The chiro suggests we continue visits for three more weeks. If we do that will his fees be deducted from our settlement and loss of wages money?

Re: auto accident

I have recently volunteered for the BBS system and thought I'd reply to your post. A personal injury claim should compensate you for your general damages (such as pain & suffering) and your specific or special damages (such as medical expenses & lost wages). However, if the insurance company makes an offer of settlement, that offer is for everything, general & special damages. Therefore, you would be responsible for paying for your medical treatment from the settlement. Also, you should check your automobile policy for medical payments coverage. This is an optional coverage on your vehicle which pays for a certain dollar amount of medical expenses resulting from the auto accident. I hope this information is helpful. If you have not retained an attorney and would like to discuss your case further, please feel free to contact our office for a free consultation.

The chiropractor needs to let you know what his arrangement is before you get too deeply involved with his care.

Usually, an attorney is retained to assist with expediting the case with the insurance company and the chiropractor's bills are part of the settlement package. If you don't hire an attorney, the chiropractor will look directly to you for payment. If you wish further assistance, please contact me at 678-990-1584.
