Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia

I fell down the stairs working "under the table" at someones home. No broken bones but real sore. I slipped on some crap they had left on the stairs. I'm stuck with the ER bill and now I can't work untill my back feels better. I'm not sue happy but they have been no help what so ever! Is there anything I can do?

Yes. You can obtain a personal injury lawyer, who can either try to obtain a negotiated settlement for you (best option, since you avoid the sticky questions in court about "working under the table") or sue. If you sue, the likelihood of you getting in trouble for being paid "under the table" is small. The issue at trial will be whether they were negligent in leaving the stuff at the top of the stairs, not whether they are withholding taxes. Think about it this way -- the non-withholding employer actually gets in more trouble than the non-withholding employee.

Best of luck.******The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.*******
