Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia

What happens to personal injury claims after a company files bankruptcy?

After a slip and fall in a grocery store, a suit was filed against the grocery store. The grocery store then filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Am I now a creditor or a liability and what happens to my lawsuit now that bankruptcy has been filed?

I would suggest calling the bankruptcy court where the case was filed and ask them if the company has filed a plan yet. If they have not, you will probably have to wait until they do to see how they will be handling your claim. Also, you may want to check with the court to see if you were listed as one of the company's creditors.
