Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia

I was wondering what the average time is after being released from a physician and receiving a settlement following a car accident. I know every case is different so no exact time can be given, however, if an average time for general uncomplicated cases can be given I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

Ask your attorney what the average time is. You do have an attorney, don't you?

If not, feel free to contact my office at 404-522-0341.

First of all, if you don't have a lawyer, be aware that your settlement, if you even get one, will average about 70% lower than with a lawyer. Only your lawyer can give an estimate, as he will know the particular adjuster, the strengths and weaknesses of the case, and whether the particular insurer tends to settle or litigate. It could get wrapped up in a month, or with some of the substandard insurers that like not to pay (think Allstate, State Farm and the like), it could be far longer.

These days there is no simple case, Insurers pour over your past medical records, their experience with particular doctors and lawyers, and even their own quarterly balance sheets in evaluating claims.

You correctly acknowledge that every case is different. That said, a typical non-complex soft tissue injury case should usually reach settlement or the filing of suit in approximately 6-8 months after the injury. Georgia has a two year statute of limitations for filing suit on car accident cases.
