deed in lieu of foreclosure

could the borrower refuse to sign the papers (deed in lieu of foreclosure) the lender produces, wanting the property back? If he refuses, then what?

Then the foreclosure goes forward and the lender owns the property. Best advice: try to work it out with the lender.
