Legal Question in Social Security Law in Georgia

my daughter passed away and left behind three children that have a father that will not care for them. I am the grandmother and have physical custody. i receive their social security survivors benifits for them. If I were to adopt them would I lose that money?

According to the Social Security website:

"When a child who is receiving benefits is adopted, let us know the child�s new name, the date of the adoption decree, and the adopting parent�s name and address. The adoption will not cause benefits to end."
