Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia

Getting it fixed without spending more then what the car is worth

Here is my problem. I was in a high school parking lot when the accident occured. I was heading out of it in my small 94 Mistibishi eclipse, when a large truck came through parking spaces and hit me on the drivers side. We weren't going fast considering its in a parking lot, about 10-15 mph. When he hit me, his tire and headlights on the corner of his truck was even with my head; that's how big the truck was. A diesel I'm sure. But, being in my small car, he said he didn't see me. My entire door and a little back had been damaged. I can't even shut the door. All of it was ruined. When the policeman got there he heard our story and then put the blame on the guy who came out of the parking spots. Now, I have no car, and I'm in the 11th grade and I now have to ride a bus to and from school, which isn't right cause it wasn't my fault. I read here already that the guy's insurance company should pay for the damage, but the damage costs more than the car itself, and I haven't heard anything from him about fixing it. An automobile place is about to total it and it isn't going to get me a new car or a halfway descent looking one either. I want my original car fixed. What do I do?

You're legally entitled to the LESSER of the value of the car (when totalled) or the cost of repairs. If you were injured you are also entitled to damages for your injuries, and a lawyer could assist you with that. If you are under 18, your parents must pursue these claims for you and you cannot.
