A trust made for the benefit of some person. Example - grandpa wants to benefit his grandchildren so he creates a trust and makes grandkids the beneficiaries. The money or property is then doled out to the grandkids (ther people for whose benefit the trust was made) by the trustee in accordance with the provisions of the trust. This is archaic and for the most part superceded by the state probate and trust code.
