Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Hawaii

borrowed property

A supposedly good friend of mine asked if he could

borrow my laptop computer ($3000) for a very important

performance he had back in April in Europe. I said he

could borrow it for a couple months to do the show and

a few gigs after. I have been asking for the computer

back since June and he basically refuses to return the

computer. I dont really want to file a suit but was

curious at what point is something considered stolen.

Can you call the police and say your property has been

stolen? I dont have any written agreement for the loan.

Re: borrowed property

Write them a letter (save a copy) and inform them that if the Laptop is not returned to you by X day you will have no choice but to consider it stolen and will then take the appropriate measures (i.e. filing a complaint with HPD). If you prefer the letter to come from an attorney feel free to call me @ 808-526-0892 and we could execute one for you for a small fee. Aloha, Jon A. Zahaby
