Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in Illinois

Wrongful Termination

I have been accused of stealing company documents via a pen/video camera. I did have a pen/video camera on me but did not steal company documents. After turning over the pen/camera to security the company could not find any incriminating documents. Since most of the employees have camera phones, iphones and mp3 players on their persons during work hours, I feel that I'm being singled out for having a recording device. Should I seek legal counsel before signing any termination paperwork? Should I state that I'm not willing to sign any paperwork until I seek legal counsel or should I just sign the paperwork and then seek counsel? Also, I'm located in Illinois just outside St. Louis. Would I need to have an attorney from my area or can I seek counsel outside the state?
