Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois

I recently filed a DBA with LegalZoom. It turns out that another company, which operates in a similar industry, has a product with the same name. Its product has a registered trademark. Am I liable? Was it my responsibility to know this? Thank you!

Unless Legalzoom has some guaranty on their work, it's time to see a real attorney. If you infringed on a federally registered trademark, you can be liable. And yes, before using a name, research is required. There is more to it, of course, but this is a free forum and we can only give you some direction, not legal advice.

I disagree. You needed to hire an attorney instead of falling for the advertising of Legal Zoom". How much money did that actually cost you, and will continue to cost you? I've had many, many people come to me to try and fix legal problems caused by Legal Zoom and other such businesses. They should be sued, prosecuted and put out of business so that thousands of other people like you don't suffer.
