Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Illinois

fired

I worked for a GM car dealership for 4 mo. i told my supervisior in the interview that i had a felony he hired me. the owner fired me 4 months later, he said he knew about it but he was sorry about hiring me and then needing to fire me now. do i have a discrimnation case? i want to sue the dealership, i had good benfits for my kids ect.. i think this is wrong!

This would be a tough case to win because Illinois is an "at will" state, and the dealer is not really discriminating against you because of your race or religion, etc. Just as they were allowed to hire someone else because of your record, they are also allowed to choose you to fire because of your record. The fact is, GM is doing terribly right now and a lot of folks are losing jobs. Your record (and short time at the job) probably just made you first in line.
