Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Illinois

my house ( i own outright) was searched with a valid warrant. the name of the person on the paper was someone who doesnt and never has lived there. He was periodically checking on the house since my son (yes, had previously been arrested for drugs) was in a work release program. the police didnt knock, they just busted down both the side and front door to my home. the guy who was there, immediately hit the floor and cooperated with the police. He was arrested for a scale and 2 grams of personal cocaine. Meanwhile the police DESTROYED my home. They kicked in interior doors that were not even locked and open ceilings, ripped up carpet, broke numerous items only to find nothing but what the kid had on his person. this person has his own home and isnt even registered to my home whatsoever,. In addition they searched the garage that is not attached to my home.I know they did it because they dislike my son and what us out of the community. Do I have any recourse against the excessive force used?

Hello. You certainly have a claim against the police department and the municipality for the damage to your home. A search warrant does not authorize the police to damage your property in that manner. I suggests that you take immediate action and it will be wise to get a lawyer to represent you.
