Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Illinois

I am living in a building where the landlord is in court with the building. I have not had any notices about what was going on with the building. I got a notice today that I owed a certain amount of money. what can i do about it? I don't have that kind of money and I have six children to take care of what can I do?

An attorney may be able to figure out from the notice alone what needs to be done, or somebody will have to go to the courthouse and pull out the case file to figure it out. If you are short on cash you may be able to take the notice to the court and a clerk may be able to help but they can NOT give legal advice, and could be incomplete in whatever they tell you.
