Legal Question in Technology Law in Illinois

My ex-boyfriend hacked into my email, he hacked into my deactivated facebook (had been inactive for months) and hacked into my cell phone account, resetting all of my passwords and proceded making changes to all of them. He suspended my own cell service through my own account, he deleted all of my contacts and important emails in my email account, except his own of course. I had to spend over an hour on the phone with my cell company to fix everything, I still don't have any of my email contacts restored and he sent defacing messages about me to people in my facebook account, posing as my ID. I had to reset my password multiple times in one day, as he kept resetting everything...I retained all proof of everything that was happening. Is everything he did illegal? What legal actions can I pursue?

See a family law attorney and ask about getting a restraining order and damages for invasion of privacy and identity theft. Family law attorneys deal with this sort of abusive behavior which is often seen nowadays as an alternative form of domestic abuse. Actually you might consider yourself lucky that this jerk used cyber abuse rather than physical abuse. It is a form of bullying in which the perp is trying to show his power and control. Call the local prosecutor as well and ask if they will take action. You might inform the Judge that these kinds of bullying can be a precursor to physical abuse so you are scared and feel you need an Emergency Order of Protection.
