Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Illinois

Slander suit from a child molester.

I was molested as a child and have since become an advocate for sexually abused kids and shared poems I wrote including his name on my myspace page with others. His new wife recently contacted me wanting to know what happened because she had no idea. I told her as well. He is now saying he is going to sue me for slander/libel. Is this something I should be worried about, or is there even anything wrong with what I'm doing.

Re: Slander suit from a child molester.

You should take this man's threat seriously and consult with a lawyer ASAP.

Telling the truth about what happened is not slander or libel, but that won't prevent him from suing. If he sues, he will claim that what you said about him isn't true. If the jury believes him, he will win.
