Legal Question in Construction Law in Illinois

I am a contractor and did repairs on a house. The customers mortgage company has delayed releasing the payments and are very difficult to get any responses from. It has been almost 3 months. What are my legal or state bound rights?

Illinois has several potential remedies for you. Of course 1 is to file a mechanic's lien, but a lot more information is needed, and having waited 3 months you may have lost some rights. There is also the "Prompt Payment" act that also could apply. Then there is your own contract, which may give you specific rights too. You really need to see an attorney who can review your contract, contract and related rights with you. But do NOT delay; as I said after 2 months you can lose rights and it's already 3!!!
