Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

Breach of contract

I have recently invested $5,000 with a man I have been dating for 15 months. The money was used for online trading. He proceeded to lose all $5,000 and has now decided to end our relationship. I have signed contracts from the online company showing both of us as participants in the trading. Do I have any recourse to get at least 1/2 of the $5,000 back from him.

Thanks you

Re: Breach of contract

I do not believe you have any grounds to get any of the money back. You did not loan this money to this person rather you trusted him to invest it for you and that is what he did. However investing in stocks is risky and in your situation you lost your investment which is very common in the stock market. If you were allowed to recover your money then every person who ever invested in the stock market would be allowed to sue to recover their loss.
