Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

my husband died in a hospital in WY. The hospital has put his 208,000 bill on my credit, I don't remember signing ANYTHING, he signed himself into the hospital. Can they legally do that. I called them they said just because I am the spouse it is my responsibility. Is this true??

Not necessarily, no. They may be violating the Fair Debt Practices Collection Act, and you can bring suit against them for this wrongdoing.
