Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

separated in June of 09 she left me for someone else . she move to the suburbs I moved back home we had a credit card and I was the primary and she cosigner .I canceled the card they sent her the conformation of cancellation , she reopened the card changed all my personal information and my address to her's but not my s.s.n. . I did'nt know until she used it out of state and card company called . they told me she got two cards from them one in my name and in her's at her address. now there telling me its a marital bill . what can I do ?

If the card was cancelled the card was cancelled. If she got a new card it would have been on her own credit. If she used it for what are considered fundamental family needs like food and rent a creditor can look to each spouse under Illinois law (even if the card was "reopened"). What can you do? Hire a divorce attorney and start with a legal separation where these things are dealt with.
