Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

No charges but denied visits

My boyfriend was invloved in a shooting at the home of a drug dealer. After being invited to the home the owner/dealer shot my boyfriend and the friend he was with. The friend was killed. My boyfriend escaped and called for help on his cell. At the same time the dealer's girlfriend called for help for the man who was shot in the head. During the investigation the police recovered 113 lbs. of marijauna, $17,000 in cash and a .22 handgun in the home. The dealer/shooter was arrested on drug charges. No weapons charges (he's a convicted felon). He was not arrested for the shooting was a ''home invasion''. My boyfriend is in the hospital and has received extenseive surgery. He has not been charged or questioned. Yet, the police have a guard outside of his room and are denying him visitors. Is this legal? What should we do? He may die and I feel both of our rights are being violated. Thank you for your help.

Re: No charges but denied visits

Your boyfriend has the right to see and speak to anyone he wants to, absent a court order. He certainly has a right to speak to an attorney. Call me if you would like my assistance in this matter.
