Driving while plates, licenses suspended

My son let a suspension of driver's license (because of too many driving offenses) grow into a bigger problem; getting caught driving on a suspended license, unable to renew stickers for plates and thus caught driving on expired plates and probably without insurance. He is is 28 and I still have paperwork when he was diagnosed with ADA 20 years ago. Can this play any part of his defense. All we are hoping for is at least a permit to drive to and from work at this point. With ADA one tends to ignore the problem hoping it will go away. Thank you for your help.

Your son's diagnosis is not a legal defense to the charges you mentioned, but it may be useful in discussing possible plea bargains wiht the state's attorney (prosecutor). If it is possible for your son to correct the problems (obtain insurance, register the vehicle properly, obtain a reinstatement of his license or a hardship license) then it may be possible to avoid convictions on the pending charges.
