Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

Possession of a Weapon by a Felon

My boyfriend who is currently on probation, was recently the target of a search warrant for cocaine at his aunt's house. When the search warrant was executed, he was not a resident and no one was home except 3 children under 13. In the home, they found a gun and Methadone. His aunt has a prescription for the Methadone. He was subsequently charged with the gun and the Methadone even though he was not in the home when the police entered. How much jail time do those 2 charges carry and what could be his outcome?

You have not said how much methadone was recovered. That has a lot to do with the class of felony and sentence. The gun for a felon is a class 2 felony which holds a term of 3 to 5 years. It seems to me that your boyfriend should get an experienced criminal defense lawyer.
