Re: what should i do if my privacy is invated by a school personel

There are a couple of tort actions that can be brought against a school for this. One is called "intrusion upon seclusion" which basically applies when someone invades another person's privacy. The other example is bringing private information into a public forum, and can apply if the teacher had a right to take the journal, but did not have a right to share the contents with others.

These are fairly new actions, but they have been recognized in Illinois and privacy law is a growing trend in the Court systems. You may have a case depending on the circumstances.
