Legal Question in DUI Law in Illinois

DUI Classes

I do not wish to obtain my illinois driver's license, so do I still have to take the classes? I've paid my fines, so that portion is done. Please advise.

Thank you,

E. Hernandez

Re: DUI Classes

Hello. If the court ordered you to take classes,

you should take the classes to avoid being held

in contempt of court which is a very serious

matter. You do not want the court to go

ballistic over this. You might then have another

problem. However, you may wish to go to court

on a motion to modify the court order in light

of the fact that you do not want an Illinois

driver's license. However, remember that driving

is a privilege in Illinois and not a right and

the court has nothing to do with approving your

driving privileges. That is why I again caution

you not to take matters into your own hands and

neglect to take the classes. I will be happy

to answer any additional questions that you might

have. I suggests that you take action on this

one way or the other. You should obtain legal

representation.
