Re: illegal consumption

Depending upon several factors, including the position of the state's attorney and the judge in the jurisdiction where your daughter is charged, it may be possible for your daughter to avoid having a conviction upon her record. I would strongly suggest hiring an attorney. If you are in my geographical area, I might be able to offer my services. Please feel free to contact me.

Re: illegal consumption

Hiring a lawyer is a good idea if you can afford one (look to spend around two to five thousand dollars). She should (1) not admit anything to the police without speaking to a lawyer first; (2) not talk with the states attorney without a lawyer present; (3) request a public defender if money is a problem. She can always ask for a lawyer and never (that means never) needs to talk to anyone without an attorney. If she has already waived her rights to an attorney, she can change her mind whenever she wants to.
