Legal Question in DUI Law in Illinois

Reinstatement of drving license

My brother's driving license had been revoked due

to 2 DUI's. He has paid all the fees, fines,

completed the community service hours, went to

the classes, saw the pyschratrist etc. and still is

denied a reinstatement of his license. There is

great hardship for my mother who is ailing, to

keep driving my brother around for jobs and

interviews. Financially, they're not well off to hire

another lawyer to clear up this matter. They tried

doing it themselves, but they get the run-around.

What can they do besides hiring a lawyer to get

my brother's license back ? Thank you for your

time.

Re: Reinstatement of drving license

With two convictions, as I understand from your message, the chances of your brother getting an RDP without a lawyer are slim to none. Of course, you can always represent yourself at the Secretary of State's Office. GOOD LUCK!

I agree with the answer posted by Mr. Dobra. However, since you cannot afford an attorney, I would suggest that you contact the local bar association in the county where the secretary of state is located, or perhaps the state-wide bar association ISBA to ask whether there are any lawyers who may volunteer their time to help your brother out "pro bono" (for free). I am not able to do this mysel, but there just might be an attorney out there who would be in a position to do so. Good luck.
