Legal Question in Education Law in Illinois

Teenager trouble in school

My son who is 17 was at a practice for a school play and had a tramatic emotional experience which caused him to threaten to harm himself in front on classmates and staff. He has since gone to a theraputic recovery hospital for teens and will be doctor released today. The school has been discussing placing him in a different school for the remainding term (a whole month) which would terminate his role in the play. He has had some trouble in school but this play means the world to him and I feel this would just be looked on as a punishment for something that should not be punishable. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: Teenager trouble in school

In my opinion, the school is over reacting. I would schedule a meeting with the principal to discuss this issue. Would be a good idea to bring your lawyer to show that you have "backup." Will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail.
