Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

What age can a child voice which parent they would like to live with? One parent is in Illinois (non custodial) and the other in Florida (custodial). My 11 year old would like to move from Florida to Illinois. What steps would need to be taken? Thank you.

A child can always voice his or her opinion. Any legal effect would be determined by the state law where the existing custody Order was entered. The process will probably require a Motion to Modify the existing Order. Consult an attorney.
