Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Is someone able to file a lawsuit against their ex husband who lied about his sexuality and married and even though he knew since childhood that he was gay. Or can parents file suit. Wedding was paid for by parents at a huge expense and parents bought house and paid for trips throughout 5 year marriage as well. Caught him cheating with a man and he admitted he married to hide that he was gay. Needless to say -emotional wreck. THank you

You can file for divorce. Your parents can file to recover any loans they may have made to you and your husband, jointly or severally, but not recover any money spent on a wedding, house or vacations during the marriage. This man agreed to marry you. He did so. You were married for five years. He cheated on you. Sounds like a pretty normal marriage to me. Did he know he was "gay" before he married you. Maybe/maybe not. He clearly wasn't sure. You are allowing your anger to cloud your judgement. File for divorce and get on with your life. Stop looking for revenge or retribution. There is never a guarantee that spouses will be faithful or that they will never divorce. Life doesn't come with guarantees.
