Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Can visitation to biological father be stopped if child is in danger?

I have been divorced from my sons father for years. My husband and I have full custody and have always had him. My ex-husband was severly abusive physically and mentally. The state gave him visitation rights, my son is now ten and is severly tramatised anytime he hears from father and is scared for his safety. His father has once before kidnapped the child and is threatening him with it constantly, he kills animals in front of my son, threatens him,and on week-end visits won't aloow him to call home or come home over long visits evwn when the child is ill and begging to come home. I am sending my son to counseling, what are his rights and what can I do to end visitation?

Hello. Based upon your

narrative, this is a very

serious matter. You should

first get an attorney, and

then you should requests

that your attorney file

an emergency motion to

bar your ex-husband from

visitation, until further

order of court.....Good

luck and act quickly!!
