Legal Question in Medical Leave in Illinois

FMLA Runaround

I was ordered to leave work by my employer on 11/20 and told I could not return until I have a release from my doctor to return to work. Until this happened, my doctor had no problem with my working during treatment, now he refuses to allow me to work. It is now 12/22 and I still do not have the release and the FMLA approval is being held up by my employer who is saying they need more information on the medical certification. When I originally called, I was told it was taken care of, nothing else for me to do. When I called to arrange payment of my benefits so my insurance would not be canceled I was told that I had never been put on leave and that a packet should have been sent to me. I still have not received the packet, but was able to receive the information via email. I was finally able to get the medical certification to them and they are still demanding more information from my doctor and denying my claim. What can I do?
