Legal Question in Medical Leave in Illinois

pregnant

I have a full-time and part time job. With my part time job as a cashier on weekends at a hardware store I only want to work 6 hour shifts, because it is too much working full time and 10 hour part time shifts. If I have an excuse from my doctor to only schedule me 6 hour shifts through the 9 months of my pregnancy can the part time job fire me?

Check With Local Attorney

Illinois may have state laws that you may be able to utilize. As far as the Family & Medical Leave Act of 1993 being applicable to your case, I do not have enough facts from your questions to assist you. There are a number of requirements in order for the employer to be covered under the Act. In addition, you have to be an eligible employee as well, and there are requirements for those. You an do a search on here for the FMLA questions which have been answered, but you definitely need to contact a local attorney if you still want someone to properly advise you.
