Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

My ex-boyfriend gave me money throughout our relationship. On one particular occasion, he made me mad and I asked for a loan. He gave me the loan and he later forgave me of the loan. We broke up 10 months later. He sent flowers and candy to my job to get me back. I accepted to go back to him to a certain extent, nevetherless, I asked him to pay my property taxes of $2300. He agreed to loan $2100 instead and I would pay it back with my income taxes in January 2016. In February 2016, I received a letter that my income taxes were taken due to the default of my student loan. I showed him that letter. So he forgave me of that loan as well. He sent me a email saying that I don't owe him any money and to keep the $1500. That same night I saw that he was still cheating on me and I broke up with him. I stopped communicating with him altogether. He has texted me to meet up with him (insinuating sex) on two occasions. He's sent pictures of his kids on the holiday via email and via text. He later returned my gifts I gave to him. And since I refuse to respond to him, now, he has filed a claim against me wanting the money back.

I have my documentation from the IRS about my income taxes and I have the email where he forgave me of the money.

Can he still sue me even though he forgave me of all the money he's ever given me?

You can sue anyone for anything. Does he have a case against you? If everything you say is accurate, probably not.
