Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Mike here with a State of Illinois question. One of my wife's family members that no longer gets along with the family was shopping in my of the retail stores I work at. I was not there at the time. While in there, they proceeded to tell one of my co-workers that I was "creepy" and that I and the van we had gotten rid of a handful of months ago were involved in an alleged child abduction attempt in a nearby town according to a supposed police officer friend of his. This is someone along with his wife that randomly will throw out barbs at the rest of the family in hopes that someone will bite and start some sort of verbal war. Would I have the basis for a slander lawsuit or would it be considered hearsay and not admissible?

All slander cases are tough to win. Yours is particularly weak. Just ignore them.
