Sold a car

Hello need help,sold a car 17 yrs old.to a person on contract they agree to all terms as a private owner contract.sold for 1200.00 dollars and they stated had problem with heating system so told will deduct almount for part off remaining bal.they put down payment.And now is stating that rear stuts and mount and ball joints are bad. which repair shop said it would need 650.00 worth of work done.signed As-is paper.tryed to make rite by deducting part payment.Now remember car is 17 yrs old. Plus was beening taped recorded without even knowing. So now is treating to take me to court. Said will bring back car am I suppose to give back downpayment, or let the courts decide.plus can I counter sue for illegally being taped.even though nothing bad was said.

If he signed a contract "as is" then the issue stops there regardless of what was orally stated.
