Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

Corporate slander

Working in retail, I take care of a specific department but there are tasks that require me to venture outside my department. Management has been accusing me of ''wandering around the store'' instead of being in my department. I can't even use the washroom without an accusation like this. Plus, on my last performance review my manager said I had ''integrity issues'' without going into detail about them (this happened in April - not sure the statute of limitations on this) What should I do about this? I have defended myself directly to the managers but they refuse to listen including the store manager. I feel like I am in a hostile work environment everyday I'm there.

Re: Corporate slander

Hello. Generally, slander and libel claims have to be filed within one year of the act. Therefore, you have one year from this past April to file a libel lawsuit against your manager. This situation is somewhat sticky because a performance review process might place a limitation on what normally would amount to slander/libel. Consider the circumstances here carefully. You might have other options that can get more mileage. Will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail.
