Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

Union representation

I was terminated from my job of 4 years one month ago. My employer called myself and my supervisor into an emergency meeting, but did not inform us of the nature of the meeting. Once in the meeting I was interragated by the Assistant Director regarding misconduct that occured in the office. Seeing that I belonged to the union, was my employer obligated to ask a union rep to sit in on the meeting? I was not given the opportunity to request a union rep. Were my rights violated, and is this grounds for a lawsuit?

Re: Union representation

No and no unless your union agreement says otherwise. Not according to any law I am aware of.
