Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

I recently served a thirty day notice to a tenant for nonpayment and illegal activity. He left freely after the thirty days to prevent going to court. Now he keeps coming over to visit other tenants on the premises. He left on bad terms with me leaving the apartment a disaster and nonpayment, also having drug paraphernalia substances in the unit. How do I prevent him from coming in or on the premises since the other tenants feel as if it is okay to have the former tenant around after I asked the former tenant and the rest of the tenants to please not allow him on the premises. I feel that he is a threat to the safety and security of the apartment and may cause damages since I will be pursuing legal action to get back rent.

Technically you have a right to prevent him from coming on your property. If he refuses to leave after you tell him to go it's called criminal trespass and he could be arrested. But this could become a "game". About the only other way would be to seek a restraining order that could immediately result in sanctions, but again you're talking about police and court processes that could become complicated.
