Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Illinois

We have a medical malpractice case in the state of Illinois. My question is, can you sue for loss of consortium as a parent who's child has been significantly brain damaged, but has survived? We know that the main portion of any money will go into a trust for our daughter. Our attorney works more in the state of Iowa and could not remember off hand the Illinois law regarding this matter. We do not want to wait until our next meeting for this answer, and I have not been able to clearly determine this through my research.

No lawyer should answer this question as the Code of Ethics arguably prohibits doing so when you are represented by another attorney in the matter. Just wait for the darn meeting. You are foolish to go behind your lawyer's back like this, unless you told him you would be doing it and he said OK.
