I was injured (broken ankle) on my Mother's property a few years ago. Is there a statute of limitations for filing an insurance claim with her homeowners insurance?

Yes, in Illinois the statute of limitation for filing a claim is two years. Generally, insurance companies have placed the same limitation in the policies they issue. Just to be sure, however, read your policy to make sure.

Nima is correct. You generally have 2 years from the date of the accident to file suit. The insurance company for your mother will assert the statute of limitations as a defense. There are some limited exceptions to the 2 year statute. You can always file a claim and see what happens. Mistakes happen.
